After a stroke, patients often suffer from cramps and muscular spasms. Doctors can help relax the muscles by injecting Botox, but this practice requires extensive knowledge about the locations and structures of muscles. The Muscle Ultrasound Course app utilizes ultrasound images, videos, and explanations from experts to visualize the body’s muscles and facilitate an engaging, effective learning process for doctors new to this field. Neurologists use this app to train new doctors, ensuring that medical treatments succeed with minimal mistakes.
We built Muscle Ultrasound Course for a union of doctors from the Schön Klinik and Klinikum der Universität München. They invented a technique for locating muscles using Ultrasound with nearly 100% accuracy. Now, they hold courses around the world for treating muscle dysfunctions using the Muscle Ultrasound Course app.
A key development challenge was the visualization of the body anatomy, which
supports the doctors’ learning process. It was also our first Android app that we wrote using
the programming language Kotlin and not Java.
This project gave us more insights in medical areas like muscle spasm therapy, and it pushed us to build an intuitive and 100% accurate app that doctors around the world can rely on. We developed the app for iOS and Android, as well as a web admin panel.
